Welcome to Español 8!  In the 8th grade you will learn how to express yourself in basic daily situations and you will learn to have a better understanding of the contemporary Spanish Speaking world and its culture.

Please share this information with your parents and place this sheet in your Spanish binder.

Materials:   Chromebook and earphones (please bring in your own to class)
  •    Workbook
  •     1  1/2 inch binder with 20 sheets of loose leaf – to be used only for this class.  You will receive worksheets daily which will  already be hole punched.     NO         folders needed.
  •     Pen or Pencil
Homework:
  •    HW will be assigned almost every class.
           You will start each quarter with a 100% HW average.  Points will be deducted from your HW average for each assignment missed.
           You are permitted to miss ONE HW assignment per quarter.
  •    HW can only be made up if due to absence from school.
  • When you are absent from class try to get the HW on line or when you return to class.
Notebook (binders):
  •    Notebook tests will be given every quarter . Stay organized!
Tests & Quizzes:  
  • Tests and Quizzes will be announced and given regularly.  
  • Should you be absent on a test day it is your responsibility to make up the test or quiz missed.  You will need to see me after class to make arrangements for 11th period.  If the test or quiz is not made up in a reasonable amount of time the missing grade will result in a ZERO . 

** I will periodically collect and grade a HW and or Class work assignments and count as a quiz grade. Be prepared!

 Extra Help: 
  • I will be available Monday – Thursday 11th period for Extra Help.
  •   Remember that 11th period is part of the regular school day, and be prepared to stay if I ask you to

Quarter Grade:  Quarter grades are calculated as follows

                           70%    Tests & Quizzes                            
                           20%    HW average
                           10%    Participation & Preparation (based on a rubric)                    
 
Student Responsibilities:

  •     Arrive on time and be seated ready to work by the time the bell rings.
  •     Be prepared with your binder, textbook, HW and a pen or a pencil.  Returning to your locker is NOT permitted.
  •    Be sure to make up any HW and Class work due to absences.  In the case of a music lesson or guidance pass, be sure to report to me first before you        attend the lesson or meeting. You will be required to make up the class during 11th period of that day.
  •    Please ONLY ask for a bathroom pass at the beginning or the very end of the class period.
